Mark Dechert, Business Lead Strategic Projects, Scotiabank, Global Risk Management
Mark has spent over 20 years with Scotiabank holding a variety of roles in Commercial Banking, Risk Management, and project management. He currently leads a team responsible for advancing the Bank’s strategic risk management priorities including adherence to regulatory requirements such as Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting (RDARR) parameters.
Niall Whelan, Vice-President, Enterprise Stress Testing, Scotiabank
Niall is currently Vice President of Enterprise Stress Testing where he is responsible for the stress testing of capital markets positions (from a MTM, CCR and collateral perspective), industry stress testing to support the credit review process and enterprise wide stress testing. This includes the modelling of retail and wholesale exposures and PCL’s in stress scenarios. Niall holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Yale University.
Kariann Dale, Vice-President, Governance and Operations, Group Risk Management, RBC
Kariann is responsible for the risk function’s program management office and operational risk management. She also leads the implementation and continuous enhancement of RBC’s Risk Conduct & Culture Framework and compensation risk management practices. Her previous roles in RBC were within Human Resources – focused on organizational design and development, executive talent management, and acquisition integration.
Tara Kennedy, Director, Global Equity Derivatives, Automated Trading Strategies, TD Securities
Tara is an equity and derivatives trader with TD Securities within the Automated Trading Strategies group. She is responsible for the research, execution and risk management of trading strategies while maintaining current and proficient knowledge of market structure and IIROC regulations.
Helen Taylor, AVP, Head of Operational Risk Management, TD North American Credit Cards, TD
Helen is accountable for building a North American operational risk management function in the Credit Cards business within TD Bank and for overseeing the implementation of the Enterprise Operational Risk Management Framework within the segment. Helen is also President of the RMA Toronto.
Evgeny Laskaev, Analyst, Governance & Operations – Enterprise Risk, RBC
Evgeny’s role involves management of RBC’s Group Risk Management team’s operational risk and regulatory management. Prior to joining RBC, Evgeny attended Goodman School of Business (Brock University), completing Bachelors of Business Administration, with two co-op placements at BlackBerry and Ontario Ministry of Finance. Evgeny has also recently completed CFA Level III, and is now pursuing FRM designation.
