We welcome you to join us for our second speaker series event of the year. This 2-hour breakfast panel will provide an overview of the IFRS9 standards and the implications on the industry. Kiran Khun-Khun is a Partner within Deloitte’s Advisory team. She specializes in bringing technical solutions to Deloitte’s financial services clients and is the firm’s subject matter specialist in the areas of financial instruments, impairment, valua-tions and hedge strategy and accounting. Kiran leads Deloitte’s Global IFRS 9 Banking Proposition for the Americas, is the Advisory Leader for Deloitte’s Canadian Treasury Practice and is a member of the AcSB’s IFRS Transition Resource Support Group for the Impairment of Financial Instruments.
David P. Power is a Senior Director within IFRS 9 Governance & Reporting at the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). In January 2010, he joined Royal Bank of Canada to lead a dedicated policy team within the Chief Accountant’s Division working on the adoption of IFRS. David is a Chartered Professional Accountant (Canada) and Certified Public Accountant (United States). He earned those designations while with Ernst & Young LLP.
Carrie Chai is a Director within Global Risk Management at Scotiabank. She is part of the Risk and Capital Analytics team, responsible for the Bank’s wholesale credit rating models and the new Expected Credit Loss model under IFRS 9. Carrie joined Scotiabank in 2011. She holds a MBA from Schulich School of Business and a PhD of Management Science and Engineering from China. Carrie is a CFA charterholder.
Michael Friesen is AVP within Risk Management at TD Bank Group. He is part of the US-based Credit Risk Analytics team, leading both Retail and Wholesale modeling efforts in that group covering CCAR, Non-Retail Basel, and IFRS 9 development mandates within the Bank’s US segment. Michael joined TD Bank in 2002, working initially at TD Securities and since 2006, in Risk Management. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from UBC, and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business.
